My Spook
My Spook is afraid of shadows on walls,
Of dim alleyways and dark cellar halls,
My Spook is scared of twittering birds,
Cricket-like chirps, mouths mouthing words,
My Spook is frightened of bumping his knee,
Luckily, though, he is not scared of me!

A Ode to the Blanket
An Ode to the Blanket,
So cozy and warm,
Which you pull around you
When cometh the storm.
But when the storm's over,
The Blanket you shed,
Just like you might do
When you exit the bed.
And now it's October.
The need for them grows,
To keep the cold wind
Off your fingers and toes.

Loud
My brother is loud.
He seems quite proud.
When he talks and sings,
His voice is on wings,
We can hear him all over the house!
Even the smallest flea or mouse
Can hear my brother sing.
"Be quiet!" My Father booms,
"We can hear you in all the rooms!"
When he yells about this,
We all miss
Some quiet solitude.
And even the smallest fly or rat
Can hear him rant about this and that,
In his deep--down voice.
We think the two are quite a pair,
One over here, and one over there,
They aren't evenly matched, you know,
My brother is high, my father is low.
The duet they play is really bad
And we find what quiet there is to be had
Assisted by earplugs.

Clack
Click-clack

Down the rusty

If I go now I won't come back.

Poor Man Willy
Would you spin a tale for bread,
Fix a stopwatch on your head?
That’s what Poor Man Willy did.
Poor Man Willy, he’s so silly,
Went and bought a Billy- goat.
‘Long comes little Thievin’ Lily,
Comes, takes Poor Man Willy’s coat.
Now Poor Man Willy’s got no coat
An’ all he’s got ‘s this muddy goat
So ‘e bought a castle with no moat,
But ten years after this he wrote,
“I’m rich ‘cause I bred sheep!”

This We Were For Halloween
This we were for Halloween:
Ghosts and Goblins, all unseen.
Dragons, werewolves, and warlocks,
Toothpaste tubes and dirty socks.
Hobbits, hobgoblins, hullaballo!
Happy Halloween greetings to YOU!

Celebrate!
This is a special time of year;
Thankful people, do appear!
Lift your voices with this song,
Let the whole world sing along!
“Love and Peace and Joy and Grace,
Show me, us, your gentle face.”
“Love and Strength and Hope and Fear,
Happy Thanksgiving Day this year!”

THERE WAS AN OLD WOMAN
There was an old woman who swallowed a flea.
As it happened, the flea was invited for tea
And then he simply sat on her knee.
And then she tried to stifle a yawn
But she sucked too hard and POOF!
He was gone!
